She loves to create personalized looks that help her clients reflect on the outside what they feel on the inside. After a long journey of working in different salons. Melissa decided it was time to build something of her own. A home, for her, that would make people feel warm and welcome the moment they walked in the door. A nook of joy and love in the midst of all the activity. Enter Comb & Honey. Represented by a Honey Bee which is translated to "Melissa". "I really wanted my heart and soul to be felt when you enter the building. This is my way of 'seeing on the outside what I feel on the inside'. Its my favorite part of my job. when people look in the mirror and say 'Im so proud to be me today' that's what I want everyday, for everyone".
Melissa loves to learn and create, she specializes in creative and organic color palates but loves to cut and form beautiful geometries as well. "Lets build something together".

Hair has been my passion and my career since I was a teenager, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This journey has called me to experience the artistic evolution of multiple years while building deep, long-term relationships, some of which have lasted over 20 years!
My career has taken me to incredible cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, where I’ve worked in the top salons, including Vidal Sassoon in Chicago and Bumble and Bumble In NYC. Along the way, I’ve been an educator, done platform work ant International Hair Shows, contributed to magazines and did a few runway shows.
At this stage of my career, my focus is on the often overlooked women, the ones in the middle. We’re not the effortlessly youthful trendsetters who can make anything look good, nor are we the celebrated Octogenarians whose bold eccentricities garner admiration. We exist in a space the the world tends to ignore. That is unacceptable and I’m here to change that.
I am currently very inspired by Nuanced Edge. It’s a term that I have coined for the the type of woman who says, ”I am no longer a young adult, I don’t conform to mainstream expectations, and I am not waiting until I’m elderly to express myself!” Be seen in a fashion statement that demands more than one glance without looking like a 55 year-old who hangs out at Hot Topic store. Nuanced hair color exists in the space between natural tones and bold vibrant, unnatural hues. Nuanced Edge is about finding the middle ground, where hair color is artistic, expressive, and sophisticated.
With all that said, I can blend grey or cover grey beautifully. I can help with thinning hair. I perform numerous texture treatments ranging from the first new FDA recommended Keratin Smoothing Treatment to Arrojo American Wave perm that slowly fades off the hair. I have access to incredible grey blend hair extension, as well. I’m here to help you to achieve your goals whatever they may be.
